Copper Beech Glade

The deluge of Christmas adverts are long gone and have made way for a glut of holiday ads, enticing us to sunnier climes.  We haven't been abroad for a while, choosing to discover our beautiful island the last few breaks we've had.

We work with a variety of commercial clients, and one of these is the fab Canopy & Stars.  They're the glamping side to Sawday's and have an amazing array of places to stay and have an adventure.  You can see one of the previous locations we documented here.  So we had a clue what we had in store, but nothing could have prepared us for the walk, where you first lay eyes on Copper Beech Glade.  A colourful oasis nestled amongst the trees.  Ornate gypsy caravans, festoon lighting, and the central point of the site - the campfire!  We made the most of this feature, cooking our breakfasts and dinners on it.  It might just be me, but I find the smell of wood smoke in my hair and on my clothes very comforting!

The welcome basket from Julie & William Wilberforce who run the site ( a direct descendant of the William Wilberforce), was packed full of gorgeous local produce.  All the little touches were very thoughtful.  Although it was late last year, we were blessed with the most beautiful weather, and the sunlight crept through the trees, illuminating the leaves.  There's a cabin to chill out in too, a fab hot shower room, a preparation area, and a compost loo with a view so you can watch all the nuthatches, rabbits and squirrels!  The lawn also doubles up as a badminton court and croquet pitch.

It's close to Harrogate & Ripon if you wanted to go & explore.  We got as far as the local pub after our campfire dinner.  If you're planning a Yorkshire adventure, you might just want to check out the sanctuary that is Copper Beech Glade.  We'll be back!

2014 - a beautiful year.

2014, what a year!  That playwright fella said that all the world's a stage.  The backdrops to our 2014 shoots were about the meadows, forests with light streaming through the trees and heather moors, canal banks, allotments, markets, high streets, windy beaches and carpets of bluebells.  Sunrises and sunsets, golden light, autumn showers, crisp winter mornings, and the odd rainbow or two.  And then there's you, the beautiful people we've shared it with.   Loved up couples, new arrivals, family life, your connections and continuing adventures together.  Kisses, hand holding, hair twirling.  Wide smiles and sandy toes.  Piggy back races, glances, first dances.  Jumps in puddles and birthday bumps.  Stone skimming and den building.  Conga trains, daisy chains, hiccups and belly laughs.  Hugs.  Love.  Moving fast.  Standing still.

Thanks so much for letting us tell your stories and capturing your time together.  We know you've got a lot to live up to 2015, but let's rev it up, crank the volume to 11, and  bring on those new adventures!

Happy Birthday Eddie!

Today is Eddie's birthday, and we just wanted to celebrate this on our little blog!  I first met Eddie last summer.  His parents had contacted me to document a year in their family life, and to capture Eddie as his lovely little character developed.  From our first shoot, I was really taken with this little man - his big beaming smile, his chortles, his twirly toes....

And then came an autumn shoot in the woods.  Eddie was togged up for the occasion with his little flat cap and we had beautiful light streaming through the trees.  He was a bit more mobile on this shoot, and looking like he wanted to take his first steps!

At the beginning of this year we had our third shoot over here in Hebden Bridge.  Eddie had started tootling around a little bit and enjoyed chasing those pigeons...

And our last shoot was a really special one with three generations of family, with Donna's parents who had come over from New Zealand.  We went to Whitby on a typically blustery seaside day.  It hit me how much Eddie had changed over the year we had been taking photos of him, and how important it is to us to document family life.  Eddie was racing around on the sand, exploring rock pools, having a breather from the wind at the beach huts...

Happy birthday Eddie, it's been an absolute joy getting to know you!

If you'd be interested in us documenting your family life, we'd love to chat with you.
