Retreat: Finding Your Voice as a Photographer

Day Retreat- £225

3rd April 2019

We've developed a day course to help you find your own style as a photographer, and take images with heart and soul. This course is for you if you are already comfortable using your digital camera in manual. It's the perfect follow-on from 'Your Journey Into Photography', so some of you may want to book for both days.  If you would like to do this, please contact us directly, as we can offer a better weekend rate.

'I've come away looking at the world a little differently and with memories of spending time with a lovely group of people.'

What will I learn?

How to....

  • take images with heart and soul

  • be creative with your photography

  • develop your style as a photographer through practical exercises

  • get the best from your camera and lens(es)

  • see light in different ways

  • build a portfolio with feeling

Tell me more about the day

Arrival is from 9.30am for tea and pastries ready for a 10am start.  Our location for the day is the cosy Wash House in Hebden Bridge, which is very close to the train station.  If it's a bit nippy outside, the log burning stove will be glowing when you come in. Warm yourself by the fire, whilst we have a cup of tea and chat about what the day will bring.

We'll discover different types of photography, discuss our preferences and learn about composition.  We'll have regular practicals nearby during the day. A warming lunch will then be provided to get you all set for the afternoon. Over lunch we can answer any questions you have.

After lunch we'll set a short project around Hebden Bridge to put into practice everything you have learnt. We will then talk a little about post production and how we edit our photos

Before we finish, at around 5.30pm, there will be a cheeky glass of something for those who don't have to rush off.  If anyone is staying for the evening then we're happy to provide recommendations on good eateries and drinkeries - there are plenty of little gems in Hebden Bridge.

Just before we say our goodbyes, we'd love people to share some of their photos from the weekend. We hope to see you soon!
